Editing an XML file

The XML editor enables you to directly edit XML files. There are several different views you can use to edit an XML file (Figure | 0-8):

Source tab-You can manually insert, edit, and delete elements and attributes in the Source view of the XML editor. To facilitate this effort, you can use content assist (Ctrl-Space).

Design tab-You can insert, delete, and edit elements, attributes, comments, and processing instructions in this view. We used this view previously when we created our XML schema. When editing an XML file that is not a schema, the Design view presents the document as a tree of elements with attributes rather than the format we saw previously.

Outline view-You can insert and delete elements attributes, comments, and processing instructions in this view.
