Examples: Contract product selection and pricing

The following examples show how to define the products available for sale under a contract and the prices charges for the products.

Before any of the steps in the examples below can be complete, do the following

  1. Open the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.

  2. From the Sales menu, click Accounts. The Accounts page displays, containing business accounts currently defined for the selected store.

  3. Select the check box to the left of the business account for which to create a new contract. Click New Contract. This will open the Contract notebook.

Note: In the examples, the term category refers to the categories of product found in the master catalog.

Categories and product set names used in these examples are based on the categories provided in the advanced B2B direct starter store.


Example 1

The contract provides a 15% discount on all products in the store. All products in the store are available for purchase under the contract.

Add all products in a store to the contract with a 15% discount:

  1. Open the Catalog filter page in the Contract notebook.

  2. Click Store master catalog in the catalog tree.

  3. From the pop-up menu, select Include with Adjustment.

  4. In the Include fields, enter 15 in the % field and select Markdown from the pull-down list.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Complete the remaining information for the contract in the other pages of the Contract notebook.


Example 2

The contract provides a 10% discount on all products in the Woodworking category. No other products can be purchased under the contract.

To implement this example:

  1. Add the Woodworking category with a 10% discount to the contract:

    1. Open the Catalog filter page in the Contract notebook.

    2. From the catalog tree, click Woodworking.

    3. From the pop-up menu, select Include with Adjustment.

    4. In the Include fields, enter 10 in the % field and select Markdown from the pull-down list.

    5. Click OK.

  2. Complete the remaining information for the contract in the other pages of the Contract notebook.


Example 3

The contract allows buyers to purchase all products in the Cordless category at standard prices with the following exceptions:

No other products can be purchased under the contract.

Add the categories to the contract:

  1. Open the Catalog filter page in the Contract notebook.

  2. Expand the Cordless category.

  3. Include the Airtools category to the contract with a 10% discount:

    1. From the catalog tree, click Airtools.

    2. From the pop-up menu, select Include with Adjustment.

    3. In the Include fields, enter 10 in the % field and select Markdown from the pull-down list.

    4. Click OK.

  4. Include the Hand saws category to the contract with a 5% mark-up:

    1. From the catalog tree, click Handsaws.

    2. From the pop-up menu, select Include with Adjustment.

    3. In the Include fields, enter 5 in the % field and select Markup from the pull-down list.

    4. Click OK.

  5. Complete the remaining information for the contract in the other pages of the Contract notebook.


Example 4

The contract allows buyers to purchase all drill bits in the Drill bits category with a 15% discount with the exception of the Masonry drill bit category (SKU T00001512). The Masonry drill bit category is not available under the contract.

Also, all other products in the store are available for purchase at standard prices under this contract.

To implement this example:

  1. Add the Drill bits category to the contract:

    1. Open the Catalog filter page in the Contract notebook.

    2. Expand the Accessories category.

    3. From the catalog tree, click Drill bits.

    4. From the pop-up menu, select Include with Adjustment.

    5. In the Include fields, enter 15 in the % field and select Markdown from the pull-down list.

    6. Click OK.

  2. Exclude the Masonry drill bit from the contract:

    1. From the catalog tree, click Masonry Drill bit.

    2. From the pop-up menu, select Exclude.

  3. Complete the remaining information for the contract in the other pages of the Contract notebook.


Example 5

The contract allows buyers to purchase all products in the store at standard prices. Also, all products in the Grinders category can be purchased at a 20% discount.

To implement this example:

  1. Open the Catalog filter page in the Contract notebook.

  2. Add the Grinders category to the contract with a 20% discount:

    1. Expand the Power category.

    2. From the catalog tree, click Grinders.

    3. From the pop-up menu, select Include with Adjustment.

    4. In the Include fields, enter 20 in the % field and select Markdown from the pull-down list.

    5. Click OK.

  3. Complete the remaining information for the contract in the other pages of the Contract notebook.


Example 6

The contract allows buyers to purchase all products in the store at a markup of 15% above cost. This example is only valid if the store has multiple price lists defined.

To implement this example:

  1. Open the Catalog filter page in the Contract notebook.

  2. In the Price list list, select Cost.

  3. Click the Store master catalog entry.

  4. Select Include with Adjustment.

    1. In the Include fields, enter 15 in the % field and select Markup from the list.

    2. Click OK to apply the adjustment, and to close the dialog.

  5. Complete the remaining information for the contract in the other pages of the Contract notebook.
