Create a new appliance definition
Define the connection properties for the WebSphere DataPower appliance you want to connect to for file transfers.
Procedure
- From the Appliances tab, do one of the following, depending on whether this is the first appliance you are defining:
- If this is the first appliance you are defining, click New DataPower appliance or the
icon.
- If you have already defined at least one appliance, use the icon or the pop-up menu to create a new appliance definition. To access the pop-up menu, right click in the tab, then click New DataPower Appliance.
The Define a New DataPower Appliance window opens.
- Specify the following connection properties for the appliance. All properties are required.
- Appliance name: Type in a unique name for the appliance definition. The name you use is what is displayed on the Appliances tab and in the DataPower appliance menu on the Transfer Files tab.
- Host name: Enter the fully qualified domain name or IP address of the appliance you are trying to connect to.
- XML Management Interface Port: Accept the default value for the XML Management Interface port on the appliance (5550) or enter a new value.
- Web Management Service Port: Accept the default value for the Web Management Service port on the appliance (8080) or enter a new value.
- User name: Enter the ID for the DataPower user who is authorized to connect to the appliance. This user must have the appropriate permissions for transferring files to or from the appliance, and for retrieving information about the appliance firmware version.
- Password: Enter the password for the user.
- If you want to ensure that, for future connections, the Host name value and the host name in the appliance server certificate are an exact match before connecting, select the option The host name on the server certificate must match the DataPower appliance host name. To always allow a connection to the appliance even if the values vary, leave this option cleared.
- Click Test the connection to verify that the appliance name, host name, and XML Management Interface port properties you entered are valid and that the appliance is available and can be accessed by the specified user.
If this is the first connection attempt to the appliance, the Trust the Certificate window opens and asks you to accept the certificate in order to create a secure connection to the appliance.
If you trust the certificate and the IBM Integration Designer can connect to the appliance, the Test Connection window opens and indicates a successful connection. Otherwise, the Unsuccessful Connection window opens and displays information about the error encountered while attempting the connection.
- Click OK to complete the appliance definition.
- If you have not yet accepted the certificate from the appliance, you are prompted to do so now. You can see the certificate details by clicking View Certificate. If you trust the certificate, click Trust Certificate to establish a secure connection to the appliance. Otherwise, click Cancel to decline the certificate and cancel the connection to the appliance.
If you click Cancel, the appliance definition is added to the Appliance tab. However, you cannot use that definition to connect to the appliance until you accept the certificate; you are prompted to accept the certificate each time you attempt to use the definition.
