DataPower Appliances view
The DataPower Appliances view is part of the Business Integration Perspective. It is available when you configure IBM Integration Designer with WebSphere DataPower capabilities. Use this view to configure and manage your connections to DataPower appliances and to perform file transfers between IBM Integration Designer and the appliance. You can also connect to the DataPower Appliance console from this view.
There are two tabs in the view:
- Appliances tab: Shows the DataPower appliance definitions and lets you add, remove, or modify appliance definitions and connect to an appliance console. You must have at least one DataPower appliance definition before you can transfer files.
- Transfer Files tab: Shows the file system for both IBM Integration Designer and the selected DataPower appliance and lets you transfer XSD, WSDL, XSLT, and XML files between the two systems.
Appliances tab
The Appliances tab shows all of the defined connections between IBM Integration Designer and WebSphere DataPower appliances.
If there are no existing connections defined, the tab is blank except for the New DataPower appliance link. Click this link to start creating an appliance connection definition.
Right-click in this tab to create new appliance definitions, to view, modify, or delete existing definitions, or to access the WebSphere DataPower console for an appliance.
Transfer Files tab
Use the Transfer Files tab to transfer files in either direction between IBM Integration Designer and a WebSphere DataPower appliance. You can transfer XSD, WSDL, XSLT, and XML files.
The Transfer Files tab has two panels:
- IBM Integration Designer panel
- Use this panel to specify the WebSphere DataPower library and the local IBM Integration Designer directory you want to use for the file transfer, regardless of whether you are uploading or downloading. If you are uploading files to the appliance, use the panel to select the files you want to transfer to the appliance.
If you have already defined one or more DataPower libraries in the Business Integration view, the DataPower library drop-down menu lists these libraries.
In addition, the Transfer directory field is initialized with the root folder; you can type in or browse for a specific directory. The table below the Transfer directory field shows all subdirectories and files available in the selected location.
- WebSphere DataPower Appliance panel
- Use this panel to specify the WebSphere DataPower appliance name, domain, and directory you want to use for the file transfer, regardless of whether you are uploading or downloading. If you are downloading files from the appliance into IBM Integration Designer, use the panel to select the files you want to transfer.
If you have already defined one or more appliances, the DataPower appliance, Domain, and Root directory fields are populated with all defined appliances and all available domains and root directories for each appliance. There are three root directories available on the appliance:
- The local: directory: Use this directory when transferring files between IBM Integration Designer and the appliance. You can create subdirectories as needed.
- The temporary: directory: Use this directory when transferring files between IBM Integration Designer and the appliance, typically for test purposes. You cannot create subdirectories in the temporary: directory.
- The store: directory: Use this directory only when downloading files from the appliance. You cannot upload files to this directory, nor can you create subdirectories.
In addition, the Transfer directory field is initialized with the root folder; you can type in or browse for a specific directory. The table below the Transfer directory field shows all subdirectories and files available in the selected location.
The Overwrite existing resources without warning check box is cleared by default and you are prompted each time the upload or download operation wants to overwrite an existing file or folder. Select this option if you want to automatically overwrite existing files or folders with the versions being uploaded or downloaded.
