Publish sample stores

The consumer direct sample store can be published with WebSphere Commerce, as it is used as the base for many tutorials.

Its features, however, are limited compared to the Madisons starter store which provides all the pages and features necessary for a functioning consumer direct online store.

Procedure

  1. Create a directory called sar in...

    • WC_INSTALL/instances/instance

    • WCDE_INSTALL/conf

      The conf directory does not exist by default. You must create this directory in the installation directory for the development environment before creating the sar directory.

  2. Navigate to...

    • WC_INSTALL/samples/stores/ConsumerDirect
    • WCDE_INSTALL/samples/stores/ConsumerDirect

  3. Copy the ConsumerDirect.sar file into the sar directory you created in step 1.

  4. Open the Administration Console, selecting the Site option.

  5. From the Store Archives menu, select Publish.

    The Store Archives page displays listing the store archives available for publish. By default, the page displaying composite store archives displays.

  6. From the View list, select the type of composite store archive to publish.

    To publish an extended site composite store archive, select Extended Sites from the View list to see a complete list of applicable .SAR files

  7. Click Next.

    The Parameters page displays. Depending on the store archive you selected, different parameters display.

  8. Click Next.

    The Summary page displays, listing the store archive and parameters selected, and the location to which the store archive is published.

  9. After reviewing the summary information, click Finish.

    A confirmation dialog displays, telling you the number of the publishing job. Note the job number for future reference.

  10. Optional: When you have finished viewing the store, bookmark the site, and close the browser.

  11. The ConsumerDirectStorefrontAssetStore.sar and ConsumerDirectResellerStorefrontAssetStore.sar files are also available for publishing in the samples directory.

    They can be used to deploy ConsumerDirect-type asset stores for the ExtendedSites and DemandChain business models.
