Monitor performance with IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WAS
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager (ITCAM) for WAS is an optional component that you can install during the installation of WAS. ITCAM for WAS monitors the performance of WAS applications and provides real-time status information about the health of applications. We can view this data in the Tivoli Performance Viewer console in WAS.
The ITCAM for WAS component is composed of a Data Collector. After you install this component, configure the Data Collector to a WAS instance. The Data Collector runs within the same JVM as the application server and captures information about the running applications. This Data Collector Configuration tool adds a new Performance Monitoring Infrastructure (PMI) module in the application server. The data that ITCAM for WAS provides augments the data provided by the application server through the existing PMI statistics.
Procedure
- Install ITCAM for WAS. For installation, configuration, utilization, and troubleshooting instructions, see the ITCAM for WAS Installation and User Guide that is located in the IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Applications Diagnostics information center.
- Start ITCAM for WAS.
- Enable ITCAM for WAS counters.
- View ITCAM for WAS performance data.
