Setting preferences for the Log and Trace Analyzer

The following preferences can be set for the Log and Trace Analyzer:

To set preferences, select: Windows > Preferences, then choose one of the categories under Profiling and Logging.

 

Setting default resources

You can set which resources appear in the Profiling Monitor by default.

  1. Select Window > Preferences > Profiling and Logging > Appearance

  2. Check the resources that should appear. Click Apply.
  3. To close the Preferences window, click OK.

 

Customizing appearance of execution flow graph

You can customize the colours of the execution flow graph.

  1. Select Window > Preferences > Profiling and Logging > Appearance > Execution Flow Graph.

  2. Modify the background and class colors as required. Click Apply.
  3. To close the Preferences window, click OK.

 

Setting host preferences

You can set hosts preferences by adding or deleting a host. Select Window > Preferences > Profiling and Logging > Hosts.

Adding a Host

  1. To add a host, type the Host name or IP Address and Agent Controller Port. Click Apply.
  2. Click OK to close the Preferences window.

 

Deleting a Host

  1. To delete a host, select the host name in the Default Hosts list. Click Delete.
  2. Click Apply.
  3. Click OK to close the Preferences window.

 

Setting log agents

You can set log agents by adding or deleting a logging agent. Select Window > Preferences > Profiling and Logging > Logging Agents.

  1. To add a logging agent, type the name of the agent in the New agent input box. Click Add Agent. The Default Agents list displays the newly added agent.

  2. To delete a logging agent, select the agent name from Default Agents list and click Remove Agent. The Default Agents list display no longer shows the agent.

  3. Click OK to close the Preferences window.

 

Setting trace associations

Use the Trace Associations preference page to set the Profiling and Logging views associated with a trace type and also to set the default view to open when double clicking on a profiling resource.

  1. Select Window > Preferences > Profiling and Logging > Trace Associations. 

  2. Under Trace types, select the resource to associate.

  3. To associate a view with the selected resource, click Add.  The Add association window appears.  Select views to associated with the resource.  Click OK.

  4. To remove an association between the selected resource and a view, select the View, then click Remove.

  5. To change the default view for the selected resource, select the view, then click Set Default.

  6. To close the Preferences window, click OK.

 

Logging your workbench activity

The workbench itself can create a log. 

  1. Select Window > Preferences > Profiling and Logging. 

  2. To enable or disable the workbench log, use the Enable logging checkbox.
