Creating database UML class diagrams

In UML visualization, you can create database Unified Modeling Language (UML) class diagrams to examine and design your database applications.

To create a database UML class diagram:

  1. In the Data perspective, in the Data Definition view, right-click a database project; then click New Class Diagram.

  2. In the New Class Diagram wizard, select the parent folder (database project) and type a file name.

  3. Click Finish.

A database class diagram (*.dnx) is created and opens in the diagram editor.

Note: The parent folder must be a database project; otherwise, the Palette does not open in the diagram editor. You can also create class diagrams from the Navigator or Database Explorer views.
