Working with the Source panel

The Source panel in the model editor shows the application code that is associated with a generated element that is selected in the Application Tree, in the Design or Pages panel, or with a selected builder call in the Outline view.

Click the Source tab to expose the panel. Use the arrow icon on the left side of the editor area expand and shrink the panel. For example, if the Application Tree and Pages tabs are not visible, click the arrow to shrink the Source panel and expose the other panels. If the Source panel is empty, you see a message No Element Selected. You can do one of the following:

  • Use the Application Tree, Pages panel, or Design panel to select an element.

    In the Application Tree, navigate to and select a generated element. In the Pages panel, select a page or a form. In the Design panel, select a visible element. The related source code in the Source panel is highlighted.

  • Use the builder call list in the Outline view to select a builder call.

    If you enable Link with WebApp Tree in the Outline view, selecting a builder call causes the associated elements in the Application Tree to be selected and the related source code in the Source panel to be highlighted.

In the Source panel, you see both information about the code and the code itself. To collapse and expand the information about the element, use the triangle icon to the left of the element name. Collapsing the information provides more space for the source code display. The information about the code varies with the type of related elements. For example, for a method, you can see, under Associations, the following items:

  • is called by

    Which method called the current selection

  • calls

    Which methods the selected code calls

Use the information about the code to more readily understand the operation of the model.
