Use a microbrowser

If we cannot, or do not want to, use the mobile app, we can still access the mobile version of Connections using the microbrowser on the mobile device.

When using a microbrowser, the following applications are available:

Updates Find out what people are working on by checking the Status Updates feed. Customize which messages are displayed in this feed; by default, it shows you the status of people in the network and people that we are following. We can post our own status message from here.
Activities View activities and To Do items. Prioritize and add content to existing activities. Add new activities or edit, complete, and delete activities that you own.
Blogs Search for and view blogs. Start a blog, and add entries and comments.
Bookmarks Save, organize, and share website addresses as bookmarks. Discover bookmarks that others in the organization, including subject matter experts, saved. Add useful bookmarks created by other people to our own bookmark collection or to an activity, blog, or community. Flag bookmarks with broken links.
Communities View communities, manage the membership of communities you own, and perform the following tasks in the communities:

  • Find out what's happening in the community by reviewing recent updates by other members.
  • Add a community activity or work with existing community activities.
  • Add new entries, and recommend or comment on existing entries in the community blog.
  • Add ideas and vote on other people's ideas in the ideation blog.
  • Add and use community bookmarks.
  • Download, comment on, recommend, or follow community files or share images and videos stored on the device with the community.
  • Upload, manage, organize, and collaborate on community files.
  • Read and post entries to the community forum or reply to other people’s posts.
  • Access community feeds.
  • Use Events for creating and tracking events that are important to the community.
  • View, download, recommend, or follow images and videos in the community media gallery or add our own image and video files to the gallery. Because of a current limitation, we cannot use a BlackBerry device to play videos in the media gallery.
  • View and comment on the community wiki.

Files Access files and share them with others. Recommend, comment on, or follow other people’s files. View who downloaded a file or commented on it, and see recommended files. Upload photos or videos stored on the device.
Forums Access forums. Add topics and replies to forums you belong to. Edit and delete topics and replies that you created.
Profiles Update the status message. Edit the profile; add a picture to it by uploading an image file that is stored on the device. Search for people using the search icon in the menu. We can view a person's contact information, and then contact the person using the native dialer and email application on the device. We can also view the person’s network and report-to chain, and see what they are working on from the Recent Updates views. Invite the person to join the network by clicking the Invite to My Network link in the profile header.

Wherever a person’s name is displayed in blue on the page, we can click it to view the person’s business card. The business card is based on the person’s profile and provides you with quick links to phone numbers and email addresses. The business card also links to content that a person contributed to IBM Connections.

Wikis Consult the wikis while on-the-go and add comments to them.
