Configure IBM HTTP Server for i5/OS

 

You must configure IBM HTTP Server for i5/OS before using the Web server with WebSphere Application Server for i5/OS.

This topic assumes that you have decided to use the IBM HTTP Server for i5/OS to serve requests to WebSphere Application Server. Configuring an HTTP server instance and Selecting a Web server topology diagram and roadmap describe the HTTP servers available to WebSphere Application Server users.

For V6.1, IBM HTTP Server for i5/OS, product 5722-DG1, is a Web servers on i5/OS.

 

Overview

An HTTP server instance is not required to install WebSphere Application Server. However, IBM recommends to support requests for servlets and JavaServer Pages resources managed by WebSphere Application Server.

Before you can use the IBM HTTP Server for i5/OS, configure an instance of IBM HTTP Server to communicate with WebSphere Application Server.

 

Procedure

  1. Start the *ADMIN server instance of IBM HTTP Server to use the IBM HTTP Server for iSeries configuration and administration forms.

  2. Create an HTTP server instance or select an existing instance, and configure it to work with WebSphere Application Server.
