Configure an HTTP server instance

Configure your IBM HTTP Server or Lotus Notes Domino HTTP Server to use either Web server with WebSphere Application Server for i5/OS.

Decide which HTTP Server you want to use to serve requests to WebSphere Application Server. For V6.1, the following Web servers are supported on i5/OS:

• IBM HTTP Server for i5/OS, product 5722-DG1

• Lotus Domino Web Server V6 or V6.5, product 5733-LD6 or 5733-L65

The IBM HTTP Server (original) is not supported for WebSphere Application Server. However, you can use the i5/OS IBM HTTP Server (Powered by Apache) with your application server. Or, you can configure a remote HTTP server residing on a supported platform to route requests to WebSphere Application Server running on the i5/OS server. Overview

An HTTP server instance is not required to install or use WebSphere Application Server. However, IBM recommends to support requests for servlets and JavaServer Pages resources managed by WebSphere Application Server.

Procedure

• Configure IBM HTTP Server for i5/OS.

  Go to Configuring IBM HTTP Server for i5/OS if you plan to use IBM HTTP Server.

• Configure Lotus Domino HTTP Server.

  Go to Configuring Lotus Domino HTTP Server if you plan to use Lotus Domino HTTP Server.
