Set preferences in Document Manager

Personalize the instance of Document Manager.

This section provides information about how users can personalize the instance of the Document Manager portlet that they use. The portal server requires users to have Privileged User authority to change portlet settings, therefore, users are required to have Privileged User authority to modify their own instance of Document Manager. Some settings depend on the way the administrator has configured Document Manager. For example, if the administrator has disabled the folder tree, users will not see the option to display the folder tree for their own Document Manager instance. Refer to the Configuring the Document Manager portlet topic for more information about configuring the Document Manager portlet.

To set the preferences for the instance of Document Manager :

  1. Log in to WebSphere Portal, then navigate to Document Manager.

  2. Click the drop-down menu icon, then select Personalize.

  3. Modify the following settings according to the preferences:

    • Number of documents displayed per page

    • Enable portal editors for each document type: select this option to use the default Rich Text Editor that is installed with Document Manager.

    • Choose to display folder tree

the Administrator can disable this setting, so it may not be available in the portal.

    • Show or hide Tools button: determines whether to show or hide the Tools button on the portlet's main page. The Tools button provides you the ability to install desktop components on the computer. You might want to hide the Tools button if you have already installed the desktop components on the computer.

    • Change the settings for the initial document view: choose to display only the first page of a document when previewing, or display the entire document.

the Administrator can disable the initial document view setting, so it may not be available in the portal.

  4. Save the settings by clicking Save.
