Creating marketing content
Create content enables you to communicate your brand and promotional messages. Once created, content can be displayed on store pages in an e-Marketing Spot.
- Open the Marketing tool.
- From the explorer view, click Content. The Content - List page opens.
- From the toolbar, click the arrow on the right side of
New; then select Content. The New Content page displays.
- Enter the properties of the content as follows:
Option Description Name Enter a meaningful name in the field. This name identifies the content. Type Select one of the following options:
- Asset
- This format allows you to specify an attachment, a file, or an URL.
- Text
- This format specifies that the content only consists of text.
Associated Asset If you select Asset from the Type list, this field displays. To associate an attachment or file to the content:
- Click the
Show utilities view icon to open the utilities view.
- Search or browse for the file or attachment.
- Drag it into the Associated Asset table.
Alternatively, for attachments, you can type the name of the attachment and click
Find and Add.
To associate an URL to the content:
- Click
Create New URL.
- In the Path column, type the URL.
If you have a different image for different languages, consider using an attachment rather than a file. An attachment allows you to associate a different image for each supported language.
Text Enter the text to display as your content. This field can be edited in multiple languages. Click action for link Use this tool to select the action that should result when a customer clicks on the content. Select among the following options:
- No click action
- If you select this option, the content displays, but performs no underlying action if a customer clicks on the e-Marketing Spot in which the content displays.
- Select a predefined click action
- If you select this option, select the predefined click action from the list that displays.
- Display category
- This option redirects the customer's browser to a category display page when the content is clicked. Selecting this option displays a field in which specify the target category. You can either enter the name of the category and click
Find and Add, or click the
Show utilities view icon to open the utilities view, and then search or browse for the appropriate category to display.
- Display catalog entry
- This option redirects the customer's browser to a catalog entry display page when the content is clicked. Selecting this option displays a field in which specify the target product. You can either enter the code for the product and click
Find and Add, or click the
Show utilities view icon to open the utilities view, and then search or browse for the appropriate product to display.
- Add to shopping cart
- This option adds a product to the customer's shopping cart when the content is clicked. Selecting this option displays a field in which specify the code for the catalog entry that you want to add to the customer's shopping cart. You can either enter the code and click
Find and Add, or click the
Show utilities view icon to open the utilities view, and then search or browse for the appropriate SKU to add to the shopping cart.
- Add to wish list
- (For consumer-direct-type stores only) This option adds a product to the customer's interest list when the content is clicked. Selecting this option displays a field in which specify the code of the catalog entry that you want to add to the customer's wish list. You can either enter the code and click
Find and Add, or click the
Show utilities view icon to open the utilities view, and then search or browse for the appropriate SKU to add to the wish list.
- Specify URL as click action
- If you select this option, enter the URL that the browser redirects to when a customer clicks the e-Marketing Spot in which the content displays.
If this URL directs a customer to a site outside of your store, WebSphere Commerce must be configured to allow redirects to the site before the redirect will work properly.
The Management Center does not support content that is associated with a promotion or coupon. If you use content in a Management Center Web activity that is created in WebSphere Commerce Accelerator, and the content has one of the following click actions, the click action will not work on your storefront:
- Display Promotion
- Add Promotion to customer's coupon collection
- Add Product to Shopping Cart with Promotion
- Click
Save to save the content, or click Save and Close to close the Content editor. The Content - List page displays the updated content.
