Changing settings for a process or task based on critical path analysis
After analyzing the projections for a process using the critical path management tool, you might want to change specific settings, such as the due date for the overall instance, or the due date for individual tasks. You can use the critical path management tool in Process Portal to make these changes.
Procedure
- Change the settings as needed.
- To change the due date of the process (the end date for the entire process), in the Instance Details section, enter the new date and time in the Update Due Date field.
- To change the priority, duration, or due date of individual tasks in a process, enter the new value in each of the fields that you want to update. When you change the duration or due date of an active task, the durations and due dates of all subsequent tasks that are affected by the change are automatically updated.
- Review the pending changes to the values in the Changes section. If you have pending changes, they will be reverted if you change the critical path projection. If you need to change the projection, do so either before you make changes to process instance values or after you have already saved your changes.
- To undo pending changes, click Revert.
- To commit all pending changes, click Save. Although you cannot undo saved changes, you can change the due dates again if needed.
