Prepare the test environment

If you are setting up your Monitor test environment for the first time, ensure that the environment is set up correctly.

Procedure

To set up your test environment for the first time, complete the following steps:

  1. To ensure that a Monitor test environment server is available, click the Servers view in Rational Application Developer or Integration Designer. Based on your environment and the options you selected when installing, the test server has the name IBM Business Monitor Server followed by a version number and on IBM BPM Advanced - IBM BPM, on WebSphere ESB, or on WebSphere Application Server. If you do not have a test server, you must go back and install the Monitor test environment. See "Installing and removing the toolkit" for more information.
  2. Right-click the test server, and click Start.

  3. After the test server is running, select one of the following options to verify that you can launch the dashboard space:

    • Right-click the test server, and click Business Space.

    • In a browser, type the following web address:

      • http:// host_name: port_number/BusinessSpace

      where:

      • host_name is the fully qualified host name of your system or local host
      • port_number is the WC_defaulthost port number.

        For example, http://localhost:9081/BusinessSpace.

Tip: To find the port numbers for your server, in the WebSphere Application Server administrative console, click Servers > Server Types > WebSphere application servers, click the name of your server (such as server1), and click Ports under Communications.

  4. You might also want to launch the Common Base Event browser and verify that it is working correctly. Select one of the following options to access the Common Base Event browser:

    • Right-click the test server, and click Common Base Event Browser.

    • In a browser, type the following web address:

      • http:// host_name: port_number/ibm/console/cbebrowser/events/

      where:

      • host_name is the fully qualified host name of your system or local host
      • port_number is the port configured to access the WebSphere Application Server administrative console.

        For example, http://localhost:9061/ibm/console/cbebrowser/events/

  5. If you changed the default user to any user other than admin, assign the new default user to all the roles that were assigned to admin during installation. For Monitor data security, add the user to the KPI-Administrator role.

  6. If you are using Integration Designer, add the following roles for Business Process Choreographer (BPC) and the Task Container:

    • BPC:

      • BPESystemAdministrator
      • BPESystemMonitor

    • Task Container:

      • TaskSystemAdministrator
      • TaskSystemMonitor
