Synchronizing and updating monitor models for process applications

In the monitor model editor, you can make changes to an existing monitor model. If you make changes to the monitor model itself, such as adding additional metrics, you can simply publish the updated version of the monitor model to the Process Center. However, if you make any changes to the related artifacts in a process application, you will need to synchronize the monitor model with the process application and then update the monitor model before you can publish it. Similarly, if you add a business process to a business integration module and you want to monitor it using your monitor model, you will need to synchronize the existing monitor model with the application and then add monitoring elements for the new business integration module to your monitor model and republish it.

Before you can update a custom monitor model for a process application, you need to ensure that the following prerequisite conditions are met:

Procedure

  1. In the Business Integration view, right-click the monitor model and select Open With > Monitor Model Editor. The monitor model editor opens.

  2. If you want to make changes directly to the monitor model (such as adding additional metrics), but you have not made any changes to the artifacts of the corresponding process application, you can make the changes and publish the updated monitor model to the Process Center by completing the following steps:

    1. In the monitor model editor, make your changes to the monitor model.

    2. At the top of the tree in the Monitor Details Model page, select the monitor model name and then change the time stamp in the Time Stamp (UTC) field.
    3. Press Ctrl+S to save your changes.

    4. In the Business Integration view, right-click the process application that is associated with the business monitoring project and select Refresh and Publish to publish the new monitor model version to the Process Center.

  3. If you have made any changes to the artifacts of the corresponding process application (such as changes to a business process or human task), you can synchronize the monitor model with the process application, then update the monitor model and publish it to the Process Center by completing the following steps:

    1. At the top of the tree in the Monitor Details Model page, right-click the monitor model name and select Synchronize with Application. The Synchronize Monitor Model wizard opens.

    2. In the Synchronize Monitor Model wizard, review the changes and then click OK to apply the changes.

    3. In the tree in the Monitor Details Model page, right-click the monitoring context that you want to update and select Update from Application. The Generate Monitor Model wizard opens to the Choose What to Monitor page.

    4. In the Monitoring Templates tab, select the monitoring templates that you want to add to the monitor model.

    5. Click Next and then click Finish. The monitor model is synchronized and updated.

    6. At the top of the tree in the Monitor Details Model page, select the monitor model name and then change the time stamp in the Time Stamp (UTC) field.
    7. Press Ctrl+S to save your changes.

    8. In the Business Integration view, right-click the process application that is associated with the business monitoring project and select Refresh and Publish to publish the monitor model to the Process Center.

  4. If you have added a business process to a business integration module and you want to monitor it using your monitor model, you can synchronize the monitor model with the process application, then add the new monitoring elements to the monitor model and republish it to the Process Center by completing the following steps:

    1. At the top of the tree in the Monitor Details Model page, right-click the monitor model name and select Synchronize with Application. The Synchronize Monitor Model wizard opens.

    2. In the Synchronize Monitor Model wizard, review the changes and then click OK to apply the changes.

    3. In the tree in the Monitor Details Model page, right-click the highest root-level element in the tree and select New > Create from Application. The Generate Monitor Model wizard opens to the Choose What to Monitor page.

    4. In the Monitoring Templates tab, select the monitoring templates for the new business process that you want to add to the monitor model.
