Changing IDs

When you change the ID of an element, you are given the option of refactoring, that is, updating all references to the changed ID to maintain consistency in the model. You can change all references to the ID to the new value.

To change the ID of an element:


Procedure

  1. Click Edit beside the ID field.
  2. Type the new ID and click Next. You are shown a list of all the elements that refer to this element and will be automatically updated to use the new ID.

    You can click each element to see a preview (where available) of the changes to the XML file.

  3. For any elements that you do not want to change, clear the check boxes. You will need to fix the errors in the model manually.

  4. Click Finish.


Results

All references to the ID are changed to the new value.
