Preparing Windows systems for installation

Before you can install IBM BPM, you must prepare your Windows operating system.

Before you begin

If you are planning to use DB2 Express with your IBM BPM installation, the user account must have administrative privileges (Administrator) on the machine where you will perform the installation.

About this task

Because WebSphere Application Server is a prerequisite product for IBM BPM, you must complete all of the preparation tasks for WebSphere Application Server before installing IBM BPM.

Procedure

Complete the following steps on your Windows system before installing IBM BPM:

  1. Confirm that the required ports are available. If install Lotus Forms Turbo on a Windows system, you need to leave the following ports free: 2809, 2810, 8085, 8880, 8881, 9043, 9402, 9403, 9405, 9406, 9060, 9080, 9100, 50000, and 55000. To check which ports are in use, open a command window and enter the command netstat -b to see which executable file is using a port.

  2. Complete the steps in the Preparing Windows systems for installation topic in the WebSphere Application Server information center.

  3. Complete the steps in Tuning Windows systems.
