Test and debugging your agent

After you use the Tivoli Monitoring Agent Builder to create an agent, test the agent.

Test the agent to ensure that the monitoring data you are expecting is the data that is being displayed. By testing your agent, you can learn to modify or tweak settings in the agent to ensure that the data displayed is beneficial and accurate.

You can test your agent from the bottom-up using the following methods:

  1. Begin using the attribute group test function of Agent Builder to test individual attribute groups one at a time. See Attribute group testing.

  2. After you complete attribute group testing, you can use the agent test function of Agent Builder to test all attribute groups in your agent together. See Full agent testing.

  3. You can complete testing by installing your agent and doing further testing together with the Tivoli Enterprise Portal. See Install and testing an agent.
