Profiling a Java application by attaching to a Java process

To profile a running application locally that was started manually in the profiling mode, use Integrated Agent Controller instead of the Agent Controller.

  1. Click Run > Profile.... The Profiling wizard opens.

  2. In the left pane (Configurations), select Attach - Java Process.

  3. Click New. A new configuration is created with the default name New_configuration. Optionally change that name to something more descriptive.

  4. On the Host tab, in the Default Hosts section, select localhost:<port>.

  5. Click on the Agents tab and select the agent to attach to as well as the type of profiling data to collect.

  6. Click Profile. The application will be launched by Integrated Agent Controller in profiling mode, starting the profiling agent. The workbench will be attached to the profiling agent automatically and the profiling activity can begin.

If the local Agent Controller is running, that local Agent Controller will be used instead of Integrated Agent Controller.
