Monitoring distributed applications
Monitoring of distributed applications is done using the J2EE Request Profiler.
You must explicitly enable the J2EE Request Profiler in order to attach to it and use it as the data collection agent for the application that you want to profile. Follow these tasks:
Prerequisites:
- Enabling the J2EE Request Profiler
- Specifying the J2EE Request Profiler as the data collection agent
Viewing the sequence diagrams
- Click the Refresh button on the toolbar of the Profiling Monitor view.
Note: Multiple J2EE Request Profilers will appear in the Profiling Monitor view as the application runs.- Select either an agent (an instance of the J2EE Request Profiler), process, host or monitor in the Profiling Monitor view.
- From its pop-up menu, select Open with. The available sequence diagrams that can be viewed are listed on the cascading menu.

The Sequence Diagram view opens with the selected interaction diagrams displayed.

Note: A J2EE Request Profiler sample is shipped with the product. For instructions on how to use it, refer to its readme (File > New > Example > J2EE Request Profiler > Next > Finish).
