Optimizing an animation (Manual)
Optimizing an animation means reducing the size of an animated GIF file by omitting duplicate frames and by simplifying colors.
The optimized animation is displayed in the new animation window (the original animation remains unchanged, in the state before optimization).
To optimize an animation manually:
- Open the animated GIF file that you want to optimize. Select File > Customized Optimization to launch the wizard.
- If you want to optimize the global palette settings, select the Optimize the palette check box. You can choose one of the following:
- Generate an optimum palette - Allows you to select the number of colors in the palette manually. Enter a value in the field.
- Use the global palette of the original file - Allows you to set the global palette for the original animation as the palette for the new animation.
- Select from the preset palettes - Allows you to choose a pre-defined palette from the drop-down menu.
- Use a custom palette - Allows you to choose an existing palette.
Click Next.
- Select Dither or No dither.
Note: You can also optimize animations (Simplified optimization) without specifying the settings manually.
