Personalizing federated documents

Portal Personalization provides the federated documents feature to retrieve metadata about documents stored in external content management systems or document repositories, such as IBM Lotus Quickr , IBM DB2 Content Manager, or IBM FileNet Content Manager. You can use a personalization component in IBM Web Content Manager to display metadata from federated documents and to create links that can be used to download or open the documents.

The document metadata is acquired from the remote systems using the Document Services remote interfaces as supported by Lotus Quickr, DB2 Content Manager, and FileNet Content Manager.

Create a federated documents selection rule

Create a new selection rule that selects metadata of documents contained in a specific folder of a remote content management system or document repository.

Use a federated documents rule in a personalization component

To access the information from a federated documents rule in web content system, create a personalization component, associate it with the rule, and specify the design for displaying document information retrieved by the rule.
