Specifying page controls

You can use the reference chooser to specify the value for a page control (for example, a text input or the label for a button).

Do not choose an indirect reference to a request input. For example, ${Inputs/someValue}. If the application runs in a portlet environment, it may have to render output as the result of a request to another portlet on the page. However, any controls or labels that get their values from request inputs do not have a value.

A best practice in this application is to use page automation builders, for example, Data Page builder with Data Field Modifier and Data Column Modifier builders. Alternatively, you can specify the value for the page control from a variable.
