Setting up logical files

A logical file contains no data, but it defines record formats for one or more physical files. You can create various logical files and describe their record formats and access paths using data description specifications (DDS).

Many of the rules for setting up logical files apply to all categories of logical files. In these topics, rules that apply only to one category of logical file identify which category they refer to. Rules that apply to all categories of logical files do not identify the specific categories they apply to.
