After the installation of IBM® Telephone Directory V5.2, you may want the application to use certain information from the i5/OS® operating system. For example, the operating system provides a way to publish the system distribution directory to your LDAP directory server. Once the information is in your LDAP server, IBM Telephone Directory V5.2 has access to it.
The operating system automatically publishes the system distribution directory to your LDAP directory server when you use iSeries™ Navigator to change the information on i5/OS. If the parent DN where the data is being published does not exist, the LDAP directory server automatically creates it.
These steps are not applicable for a Domino® LDAP server.
To configure your server to publish i5/OS information into your LDAP directory server, perform the following steps:
When you publish users from the system distribution directory, there is not a password value associated with the user entry that is created. For an entry to have a password, the IBM Telephone Directory V5.2 administrator must update each user entry.
For more information on how to publish information from the operating system to the LDAP directory, see Publish information to the directory server in the Directory Server (LDAP) topic.
