Deleting attributes and subfolders from a folder

As a Category Manager or Product Manager, we can delete attributes or subfolders from a folder to improve organization of the store attributes.

Before beginning

(Enterprise) If we are using extended sites, ensure that you understand how folders work in extended sites. See Folders in extended sites.

Procedure

  1. Open the Catalogs tool.

  2. From the explorer filter, select Attribute Dictionary.

  3. Expand Attribute Folders. Locate and select the folder containing the subfolder or attribute to delete. The contents of the folder displays in the main work area. Tip: We can view a list of attributes or a list of folders within the folder or directory. Click the

    Show Attributes List or

    Show Attribute Folders List.

  4. Right-click the attribute or folder to delete; click Delete.

If you delete an attribute, you delete only the reference to that attribute. The attribute continues to exist in your attribute dictionary and in any other folders that include the attribute.

If you delete a folder, you delete the folder from your system. If the folder contained attributes, the attributes are deleted from the folder, but continue to exist in your system and in any other folders that include the attributes.

We can also delete a subfolder from a parent folder within the properties view of the subfolder by removing the folder entry in the Parent Folder table. Removing this entry makes the subfolder a top-level folder.

  5. Verify that the attribute or folder no longer displays within the parent folder.
