Troubleshoot: Cannot create a promotion
This topic provides information that might help resolve problems with promotion creation.
Problem
After following the instructions for creating a promotion, the server will not permit the promotion to be saved.
Solution
You cannot create a promotion that has the same name as a promotion marked for deletion. The database record corresponding to a promotion marked for deletion is not physically removed until the Database Cleanup utility is run. If create a promotion with the same name, contact the Site Administrator.
You should not use the same promotion identifier for two or more promotions in a single store. By default, the database record corresponding to a deleted promotion is marked for deletion, and is not physically removed. Therefore, you cannot recreate a promotion with the same identifier. If create a promotion with the same identifier as the deleted promotion, the Database Cleanup utility can be configured to physically remove promotion from database.
