Install the WebSphere Commerce toolkit using the IBM Installation Manager


Before you begin

The machine on which you are installing meets all prerequisites.

You have installed IBM Rational Application Developer with the WebSphere Application Server Test Environment on the machine.

You have stopped any applications running on the machine.

You have disabled any Web server that you have configured on the machine.

You are logged on as a user with Administrator privileges.

If you plan to use the IBM Sales Center development environment, preinstall the IBM Sales Center client.

Insert the WebSphere Commerce Developer DVD in the DVD-ROM of the RAD machine.


Procedure

  1. Open Installation Manager.

  2. Add the WebSphere Commerce repository location to the Installation Manager:

    1. On the Start page of Installation Manager, click...

      File | Preferences | Repositories

      The Repositories page opens, showing any available repositories, their locations, and whether they are connected.

    2. On the Repositories page, click Add Repository.

    3. In the Add Repository dialog box, click Browse.

    4. Navigate to the location of the WebSphere Commerce Developer DVD and select the file...

      repository.config

      ...and then click OK. The new repository location is listed.

    5. To ensure that the Repository URL is available, click...

      Test Connections

  3. From the Start page, click Install.

    The Installation Manager searches its defined repositories for available packages.

  4. Select the WebSphere Commerce Developer package.

    Click Next.

  5. View the license panel carefully, and select I accept the terms in the license agreements, then click Next.

  6. Select...

    Create a new package group

    In the Installation Directory field, replace the default value with a short directory name such as...

    C:\WCDE_ENT70

    Click Next.

  7. Select the languages to install. The default is English. Click Next.

  8. Under the IBM WebSphere Commerce Developer edition name feature, select the feature...

  9. Optional: If you plan to use the IBM Sales Center toolkit, under the IBM WebSphere Commerce Developer edition name feature, select the feature...

    IBM Sales Center toolkit

    The IBM Sales Center toolkit is installed to the same location as the WebSphere Commerce toolkit.

  10. Click Next.

  11. Confirm all information and click Install.

  12. After the installation completes, a summary page is displayed.

    In the success message, a link to the Installation Manager log is provided. Click Finish.

  13. To ensure the install has completed successfully, you can take additional actions:

    1. Examine the contents of...

      WCDE_INSTALL/logs/setup.log

      If setup.log is empty or has errors, run...

      WCDE_INSTALL/bin/setup.bat

    2. Check that the install was able to properly detect RAD on the system by ensuring that...

      WCDE_INSTALL/bin/setenv.bat

      ...sets the RAD_HOME environment variable to RAD_installdir correctly.

    3. If you have installed the IBM Sales Center development environment component examine the contents of...

      WCDE_INSTALL/logs/setupmsc.log

      If errors appear, examine...

      WCDE_INSTALL/bin/setenv.bat

      Verify the RAD_HOME environment variable points to the correct RAD installation location, and that the WED_HOME environment variable points to the correct IBM Sales Center for WebSphere Commerce location.
