Database cleanup before migration
To improve the performance of the database tier migration, clean the current WebSphere Commerce database before migrating.
The following assets and data should be considered in deletion planning:
- Logs (for example, user traffic log)
- Abandoned shopping carts
- Old guest users
You can remove unused or obsolete objects from the database using the Database Cleanup utility script:
- WebSphere Commerce v5.6.1: Database Cleanup utility
- WebSphere Commerce v6.0: Database Cleanup utility
Run the Database Cleanup utility can take some time to complete. Consider the following points:
- Evaluate the types of data on the system and how they affect database maintenance. User and order data can be quite large, resulting in large database tables.
- Clean any obsolete data on an ongoing basis using the Database Cleanup utility.
