Configure custom properties for URLs using wsadmin

Use wsadmin.sh to set custom properties for URLs. See the topic Starting the wsadmin scripting client article for more information.

Configure a new custom property for a URL:

Procedure

  1. Identify the parent ID and assign it to the newurl variable.

      ### Jacl

      set newurl [$AdminConfig getid /Cell:mycell/Node:mynode/URLProvider:URLP1/URL:URL1/]

      ### Jython

      newurl = AdminConfig.getid('/Cell:mycell/Node:mynode/URLProvider:URLP1/URL:URL1/')
      print newurl

    Example output:

    URL1(cells/mycell/nodes/mynode|resources.xml#URL_1)

  2. Create a J2EE resource property set:

      ### Jacl

      set propSet [$AdminConfig showAttribute $newurl propertySet]

      ### Jython

      propSet = AdminConfig.showAttribute(newurl, 'propertySet')
      print propSet

    Example output:

    (cells/mycell/nodes/mynode|resources.xml#J2EEResourcePropertySet_7)

  3. Identify the required attributes:

      ### Jacl

      $AdminConfig required J2EEResourceProperty

      ### Jython

      print AdminConfig.required('J2EEResourceProperty')

    Example output:

    Attribute     Type
    name         String

  4. Set up the required attributes:

      ### Jacl

      set name [list name RP3]
      set rpAttrs [list $name]

      ### Jython

      name = ['name', 'RP3']
      rpAttrs = [name]

  5. Create a J2EE resource property:

      ### Jacl

      $AdminConfig create J2EEResourceProperty $propSet $rpAttrs

      ### Jython

      print AdminConfig.create('J2EEResourceProperty', propSet, rpAttrs)

    Example output:

    RP3(cells/mycell/nodes/mynode|resources.xml#J2EEResourceProperty_7)

  6. Save the configuration changes. See the topic Saving configuration changes with wsadmin.sh for more information.

  7. Synchronize the node. See the topic Synchronizing nodes with the wsadmin tool for more information.
