Design a server topology for web service qualities of service for WS-Notification
Design a server topology to support a web services configuration in which WS-Notification customers receive a range of web service qualities of service (QoS), such as reliability.
In WAS there are two implementations of the WS-Notification service: v6.1 and v7.0. You will need to implement the JAX-WS based Version 7.0 WS-Notification option to benefit from the full range of web service qualities of service (QoS) offerings, such as WS-ReliableMessaging.
Design a QoS-partitioned server topology for WS-Notification describes how you can design a partitioned topology in which different servers or server groups provide different qualities of service for WS-Notification customers of varying status. This task describes the additional design steps where you plan to use policy sets to apply a range of web service qualities of service to JAX-WS based web service applications including Version 7.0 WS-Notification service and service point applications.
Procedure
- Get a statement of the qualities of service requirements for each web service in the topology, for example a statement describing whether each WS-Notification service point should support composition with WS-ReliableMessaging.
- Identify, from the statements you collected in the previous step, the distinct groups of QoS requirements.
- Ensure that each web service in the topology is a JAX-WS based web service, and can therefore be configured by using policy sets. For WS-Notification services, impose a constraint that each service is a v7.0 WS-Notification service.
- Define the policy sets needed to achieve the required qualities of service.
- Identify existing policy sets that meet the requirements defined in the previous step. You might be able to use existing policy sets within your organization, or default policy sets provided by WAS.
