Example task: Cobrowse in web applications

Overview

The Cobrowse widget allows users to share and direct a browsing session with a web browsing partner. We use the Dojo Toolkit to embed Cobrowse widgets in applications. Look and feel is customized using a css file.

A modal window is is used, and be closed before the user can return to the main application.

To learn how CEA widgets work in an online application, install the PlantsByWebSphere Ajax Edition for CEA sample application.

Configure CoBrowse widgets

  1. Enable the system application.
  2. Copy the CEA widgets into the application
  3. Embed widgets
  4. Embed mobile widgets
  5. Install and start the application
  6. Test the application

Post-configuration

To test, use two completely separate browsers. Using tabs in the same browser, or even launching separate instances of the same browser on the same machine, will cause session issues.

Enable browser cookies to allow the CEA widgets to store state information about the active widget session. If cookies are disabled, and you access another page with the embedded CEA widget, or refresh the current page, the CEA widget loads to the default state.
