Scenario 4: Flexible Management: Migrating a job manager profile and its registered set of servers
We can migrate a job manager profile and its registered set of servers from v7.0 to v8.0.
Supported configurations:
This topic is about configuration migration, such as migrating dmgrs and federated nodes in a network deployment environment. The Application Migration Toolkit for WAS provides support for migrating applications from previous versions of WAS to the latest product version. For information about migrating applications, read more about the Application Migration Toolkit.
Review the migration planning information. See Knowledge Collection: Migration planning for WAS.
Job manager profiles can have one or more of the following server types registered:
- Deployment manager servers
- Managed base application servers (which are also registered to an admin agent)
- Managed base application servers and dmgr servers cannot accept jobs from a job manager that is of a previous version. To avoid problems, migrate your job manager profiles to v8.0 before you migrate managed base application servers and dmgr servers to v8.0.
- When migrating the managed base application server or managed dmgr in a flexible management environment, the node names must be the same in v8.0 and previous releases.
This task outlines the steps needed to migrate the job manager and the set of registered servers.
New feature: We can migrate job manager profiles and the registered set of servers from v7.0 to v8.0. newfeat
Ensure that your setting for the maximum number of open files is 10000 or greater. If the number of open files is too low, this can cause a variety of migration failures.
