Virtual member manager unique ID

Virtual member manager provides an identifier that is unique, static, and never reused to its applications so that data for an entity in an application-specific data store can be associated with the same entity in virtual member manager.

This identifier is the virtual member manager uniqueId. It is globally unique, static, and never reused. It has a maximum length of 200 characters. Applications need to treat uniqueId as an opaque token. Its contents are not interpreted and no meaning is derived from it.

Most repository types that virtual member manager supports out-of-the-box already have built-in capability to generate globally unique, static, and never reused identifiers. For example, the different brands of LDAP directories that virtual member manager supports all have UUIDs available. Virtual member manager uses this identifier to create the virtual member manager uniqueId. Virtual member manager also uses it to associate the data for an entity stored in the property extension repository in virtual member manager with the data for the same entity in the main repository.
