Tune the virtual member manager LDAP cache

Use the cache control parameters to adjust and improve the performance of the cache.

About this task

Virtual member manager caches the query results from repositories (for example, an LDAP server).

You need to monitor the status of the cache and makes adjustments to the cache control parameters to improve the performance of the cache. Because the WebSphere Dynamic Cache (DynaCache) is used as the implementation of the virtual member manager cache, you can utilize the tools and services provided by WebSphere DynaCache to monitor the virtual member manager cache.

The parameters that you can adjust to control the virtual member manager cache are:

cacheSize

Defines the maximum size for the cache.

cacheTimeOut

Specifies how long the cached entries can stay in the cache before being invalidated.

cacheDistPolicy

Distribution policy for the dynamic cache in a cluster environment.

attributeSizeLimit

Maximum number of attributes that can be stored in the cache.

searchResultSizeLimit

Maximum number of search results that can be stored in the cache.

For more information on using these parameters, see the topic, IdMgrRepositoryConfig command group in the WAS information center.
