Platform considerations for zSeries

Because DataSource, JDBC type 2 driver, and JTA are not available in a zSeries Control Region, virtual member manager supports JDBC type 4 drivers and local transactions to access the database.

Only read, search and login operations can be called while virtual member manager is running in a Control Region. These calls require only a small amount of database access.

Although the Name Service is not available in the control region, JNDI can still be used. Virtual member manager uses explicit JNDI lookups for the LDAP servers needed by virtual member manager adapters.

We must update the table space in the database schema before you can issue the setupIdMgrDBTables command for the db2zos database type.
