Supported configurations

Virtual member manager can be configured to support various repositories.
Virtual member manager supports the following configurations:

File only The file repository is the only main repository. All profile data is stored in the file.
DB only Database repository only. The database repository is the only main repository. All profile data is stored in the virtual member manager database.
LDAP only LDAP repository only. The LDAP repository is the only main repository. All profile data is stored on LDAP server.
LDAP plus property extension repository The LDAP repository plus property extension repository. The LDAP Repository is the main profile repository. It stores properties passed to it by the LDAP repository adapter. The rest of the properties are stored in the property extension repository.
Entry level join Multiple main profile repositories are configured to be used simultaneously. The main profile repositories could be one database repository and one or more LDAP repositories, or could be multiple LDAP directories alone without any database repository. Examples are:

DB + LDAP
DB + LDAP (SunOne) + LDAP (Active Directory)
LDAP (Domino) + LDAP (IDS)

Entry level join plus property level join The multiple main profile repositories are configured to be used simultaneously. A main profile repository could be one database repository and one or more LDAP directories. In addition, the property extension repository can be used to store additional properties which cannot be stored in the main profile repositories. Examples are :

DB + LDAP + PE
DB + LDAP + LDAP + PE

File plus any of the specified configurations The file repository can be configured to be used in addition to any of the other specified repository configurations.
