Start the administrative console for the deployment manager

The administrative console is a Web-based application that runs on any browser supported by WebSphere Application Server. This topic describes how to start the administrative console for the deployment manager.

This topic assumes that you have a running deployment manager profile. See Verifying that the deployment manager is running if you have not yet attempted to start the deployment manager.

The browser-based administrative console for WebSphere Application Server requires that cookies be enabled in the browser. This topic also describes how to enable cookies.

Overview

Use this procedure to start the administrative console on a workstation.

Procedure

Open the following Web page in your browser:
```
http://your.server.name:port/ibm/console
```
The your.server.name variable is the host name of the iSeries server on which your deployment manager is running. The port variable is the administrative console port as noted in the ready message in the joblog of your application server.
The administrative console port of the deployment manager profile is 9060. For more information about the ready message, see Verifying that the deployment manager is running.
When prompted, enter a user ID.
The administrative console is displayed in the browser window.
The user ID does not need to be an iSeries user profile. This user ID is used only to track which users make changes to the deployment manager configuration.
Enable cookies for your Web browser.
Netscape Navigator: Perform the following procedure:
1. Click Edit > Preferences.
2. Click Advanced in the left pane.
3. The right pane shows settings for cookies. Verify that cookies are not disabled.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0, 5.0, and 5.5: Perform the following procedure:
1. Click Tools > Internet Options.
2. Click Security.
3. Click Custom Level > Cookies > Enable.
4. Click OK.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0: Perform the following procedure:
1. Click Tools > Internet Options.
2. Click Privacy > Advanced.
3. Click Accept to accept first-party and third-party cookies..
4. Click OK.
