Workstation prerequisites
Before you install WebSphere Application Server workstation components,
verify that your hardware and software meet the minimum requirements.
Workstation hardware requirements
If
you only plan to use your workstation to administer WebSphere Application
Server, you can use any workstation running a supported Web browser.
The
workstation hardware requirements for application development and assembly
components follow:
- Capable workstations

- An Intel-based personal computer capable of running any of these operating
systems:
- Microsoft Windows(R) XP Professional Service Pack 1A (or later)
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server Service Pack 4 (or later)
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Standard or Enterprise Edition
- RedHat Advanced Server for Intel (x86) 2.1
- SuSE Linux SLES for Intel (x86) V8.0 Service Pack 2A
- TurboLinux Enterprise Server for Intel V8.0 Service Pack 2A
- UnitedLinux for Intel V1.0 Service Pack 2A
- Conectiva Linux Enterprise Edition for Intel V1.0
- A workstation that is capable of running Solaris V8 or V9.
- A pSeries(TM) server that is capable of running any of these operating
systems:
- AIX(R) V5.1 or V5.2
- SuSE Linux SLES for PowerPC V8.0
- TurboLinux Enterprise Server for PowerPC V8.0
- UnitedLinux for PowerPC(R) V1.0
- Communications adapter or network interface

Your workstation must support a communications adapter or an appropriate
network interface.
- Free disk space

Your workstation must have a minimum of 120 MB of free disk space.
- Memory

Your workstation must have a minimum of 256 MB of memory.
- CD-ROM drive

Your workstation must have a CD-ROM drive.
Workstation software requirements
If
you only plan to use your workstation to administer WebSphere Application
Server, you can use any operating system with a supported Web browser.
The
following workstation software requirements apply to the application development
and assembly component:
- Any of these operating systems

These IBM development kits for Java are included on the WebSphere
Application Server workstation CD-ROM. The appropriate development kit is
automatically installed when you install any of the workstation components
of WebSphere Application Server.
