Installing an LDAP server is not part of the default IBM WebSphere Portal installation, so install, setup, and configure the IBM Tivoli Directory Server separately. We can install the Tivoli Directory Server on the same machine as WebSphere Portal or we can install it on a remote machine.

  1. Installing Tivoli Directory Server
    If necessary, use the information in this file to install IBM Tivoli Directory Server so that we can set up and configure Tivoli Directory Server as the LDAP server for IBM WebSphere Portal.

    Before we can configure IBM WebSphere Portal to work with the LDAP server, the LDAP user registry must have some minimal user and group information already populated. This section describes the procedures necessary to set up the LDAP server to work with WebSphere Portal.
