Overview

Active Directory should be installed and configured before you install WebSphere Portal.

Active Directory is included with the Windows 2000 or 2003 Server operating system.

We can install on the same machine as WebSphere Portal or remotely.

If you will be configuring collaborative services and user authentication, you probably want to use Domino Directory for the LDAP Server.

 

Procedure

Below is an overview of the installation:

  1. Install Windows 2000 or 2003 Server, which includes Active Directory.

  2. Install required Service Packs.

  3. To use AD w/SSL and 128-bit encryption, install Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack. Perform this step only if using Active Directory 2000. High Encryption is included with Active Directory 2003.

  4. To use AD w/SSL, install IIS...

    Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows Components | Internet Information Services (IIS) | Next

    IIS is needed to export server certificates.

  5. To use AD w/SSL, install Certificate Services...

    1. Click thru...

      Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows Components | Certificate Services | Next

    2. Select Stand-alone root CA, then click Next. We can also choose other options depends on we needs.

    3. Fill in CA identifying information and click Next.

    4. Follow the instruction of the Windows Components Wizard. The Windows Server CD is needed.
