Resource adapter archive file

A Resource Adapter Archive (RAR) file is a JAR file used to package a resource adapter for the J2C Architecture.

A RAR file can contain the following:

  1. Enterprise information system supplied resource adapter implementation code in the form of JAR files
  2. Utility classes.
  3. Static documents, such as HTML files, images, and sound files.
  4. J2C common client interfaces, such as cci.jar.

The standard file extension of a RAR file is .rar.

In the Assembly Toolkit, RAR files are called connectors.
