Develop

Developing or programming is an activity in which you produce code artifacts (or components) according to various design and coding specifications. This version of WebSphere Application Server can host applications developed in any application development environment, as long as the applications and their packaging comply with J2EE 1.3 specifications. See Product family overview for information about WebSphere products offering Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) that complement IBM WebSphere Application Server editions.

Before or during code development, determine whether you will try to migrate existing code, or create new artifacts -- the answer usually depends on how much the specifications have changed. After you develop and unit-test an application, proceed to assemble its artifacts into J2EE-compliant modules that can be deployed onto appservers.

Apache Ant and Apache Struts are provided to aid in your build environment.
