Preparing truststore files

Overview

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol protects the communication between WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Application Server for z/OS appservers. To complete the SSL connection, establish a valid truststore file for the WebSphere Application Server. A truststore file is a key database file that contains the public keys (See Creating login key files for information about how to create a new keystore file.)

  1. Extract the public key of the z/OS server by using the key management tool from WebSphere Application Server z/OS.For details, see Configuring the server for request decryption: choosing the decryption method.

  2. Add the public key from the WebSphere Application Server for z/OS server as a signer certificate into the requesting WebSphere Application Server truststore file. For details, see the related information about how to Importing signer certificates.

Results

The WebSphere Application Server truststore file is now ready to use for SSL connections with the WebSphere Application Server for z/OS servers.
