What is the Home page?
The Home page delivers an aggregated view of the latest updates from all the IBM Connections applications. If your administrator has enabled it, the Home page also delivers updates from applications from other vendors.
What is the difference between the Updates tab and the Widgets tab?
The Updates tab delivers the latest updates to you in an easy-to-read list format. Use the filter options provided to view the updates that interest you most. The Widgets tab displays the updates in the form of widgets, with each widget listing the latest updates for a specific application.
Can I set one of the tabs as the default tab?
No, but the Updates and Widgets tabs have different URLs, so you can bookmark your favorite tab at any time.
What are widgets?
A widget is a self-contained, HTML-based representation of a software component. The Widgets tab uses widgets to display a snapshot view of updates from each of the IBM Connections applications. You can also add widgets to the side column on the Updates tab.
What can I do with IBM Connections widgets?
You can stay current with updates from all of your IBM Connections applications directly from the Home page. Some widgets allow you to toggle between different views to display different types of information.
What widgets can I add to my home page?
You can add widgets for each of the IBM Connections applications you have installed. Vendor-acquired widgets might also be available if your administrator has enabled them. You can view the widgets available for use in the content palette, which you can access by clicking Customize on the Updates tab or Widgets tab.
If I rearrange the widgets, what happens the next time I open the page?
Whenever you add or move a widget on the Updates tab or the Widgets tab, the next time you open the page, the widget displays in the same location. The widget also displays the same view as when you last viewed it.
If I close a widget, does that mean that I can't use it again?
Closing a widget simply returns it to the content palette. You can add the widget to the Home page again whenever you want.
How do I set widget preferences?
You can configure IBM Connections widgets to display as many entries as you want using the edit options available from the widget action menu.
Can I access the full IBM Connections applications from the Home page?
Logging in to the Home page automatically logs you in to all of your other IBM Connections applications. You can open any of the applications using the application links provided at the top of the Home page, or by clicking the name of the widget associated with a particular IBM Connections application in the widget title bar.
What is the limit of the number of entries displayed on the Updates tab?
You can display up to 100 entries in any view. However, the length of time after which entries are purged is set to 30 days by default, so if you are looking for an entry that is older than 30 days, you might not find it.
