Export data for problem analysis for Packaging Utility

We can generate a compressed file that contains data for problem analysis. IBM Software Support can use this file to help troubleshoot issues that you encounter with Packaging Utility.

Procedure

To export installation data for problem analysis:

  1. In Packaging Utility, go to Help > Export Data for Problem Analysis.

  2. In the Export Application Data window, click Browse to select a directory location for the compressed file.

  3. Enter a name for the compressed file and use the .zip file extension.

  4. Click OK.


Results

A compressed file that contains the log files and installation data is created.


View the log files

Procedure

To view the log files:

  1. Extract the compressed file.
  2. Double-click the index.xml file. An All Log Files window shows with a table of log files. The table columns include: Date, Time, Entries, Errors, Warnings, and Log File.
  3. Double-click the log file we want to view. An Install Log window shows with a table of information about the installation. The table columns include: Level, Message, ID, Time, Message.

    1. Messages in log files have a severity level of: Information, Note, Warning, or Error.
