Copy packages in wizard mode

Use Copy Packages to create repositories.

When you copy update packages from the IBM site, we might receive the message: "The update application_version does not have its base offering (application_version) in the open set of repositories". In this message, application references the product and version is the version of the product. This message indicates that Packaging Utility cannot find the base offering that is associated with the update offering. In Packaging Utility, we must either open a repository containing the base offering or your destination repository must contain the base offering to copy the packages.

Procedure

To copy packages:

  1. On the Source page of the Packaging Utility, select the packages and fixes that we want to copy and click Next. Some packages require entitlement for an update or a fix . If we are not entitled, we cannot select the update or the fix. The Status column contains a Not entitled message for versions that are not entitled. Entitlement is based on your IBM ID credentials. For information about entitlement, see IBM Entitlement Help.

  2. On the Destination page, click Browse. Select an existing repository directory, or create a directory to store the packages and fixes.

If we specify an existing repository, that repository must be either on a network directory or on your local computer.

  3. Click OK.

  4. Click Next to display the Summary page. The Summary page displays the selected packages and fixes that are copied into the destination repository. This page also lists the amount of storage space that the copy requires, and the amount of available space on the drive.

  5. Click Copy to copy the selected packages and fixes to the destination repository. After the copy process is finished, a Complete page opens and displays all the packages and fixes that were copied successfully.

  6. Click Done to return to the Packaging Utility main page.

What to do next

After we use the Packaging Utility to create a repository, we can use the Preferences page of IBM Installation Manager to define this location as a repository. We can place the repository on a UNC drive on Windows or on a web server to make the directories and files available over HTTP. Example of an UNC drive: \\machinename\enterpriserepository
