Enable the rollback preference in console mode (imcl -c)

To use the rollback feature to revert to a previous version of an updated package, we must enable the collection of rollback information. Some packages do not support rollback.

By default, Installation Manager saves earlier versions of a package to roll back if you experience issues with later versions of updates, fixes, or packages. When Installation Manager rolls back a package to a previous version, the current version of the package is uninstalled, and the earlier version is reinstalled.

If we choose not to save the files for rollback, we can delete the files from our computer.

We cannot roll back Installation Manager to an earlier version.

Procedure

  1. Start Installation Manager in console mode: imcl -c. For more information, see Start IIM in console mode.

  2. Enter P: Preferences.

  3. Enter 3: Files for Rollback.

  4. Enter 1: Save files for rollback. A selected option is indicated by an X in brackets: [X].

The Delete Saved Files option shows when files are saved. If the value for Size of saved files is 0.0 MB, the delete option is not available.

  5. Enter A: Apply Changes and Return to Preferences Menu.

  6. Enter R: Return to Main Menu.
